  • Our Purpose

    Our Purpose

Our hope and purpose in counseling is to come along side you in order that we might encourage, help, admonish when needed, guide when appropriate and rejoice with you when victories are realized. It is our goal to do this with patience, kindness, gentleness, and spirit of love and humility before a God that has provided everything pertaining to life and godliness through the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
What Is Biblical Counseling?

Biblical counseling is distinguished from “Christian counseling” in that we do not “mix” secular (humanistic) theory developed by Freud and others into our philosophy of counseling. Instead, we begin from the Bible alone, and ask the “big” questions of psychology such as “Who is man?”, “Why does he do what he does?”, “How does he change?”, and “What is the nature of his deepest struggles?”.

Biblical counseling is serious and compassionate regarding the struggles and suffering of counseling such as marriage difficulty, depression, anxiety, fear, addiction, anger, and abuse (to mention a few). Biblical counselors work to express love to those seeking help, and seek to avoid simplistic or superficial answers to the deep troubles of counselees (i.e., “Read this verse and you’ll feel better” or “Don’t worry, God is in control”).

Biblical counselors are strong students of the Bible, and have been trained to interpret the struggles of counselees through the lens of Scripture rather than through the lens of the theories of man.
