Zephaniah 3:17 “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
My name is Allison Threlkeld and I consider it a true blessing to be involved in biblical counseling. I believe that there is nothing that God does already know about us, and I also believe that there is absolutely nothing that can separate us from God’s love. Romans 8 states that “…neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God has chosen to reveal His great love to us through His Word, the Bible. The Bible is overflowing with stories of real human lives being transformed by God, and—although the Bible was written thousands of years ago—the fundamental issues and struggles of man are no different today. There are several implications from this truth as it relates to biblical counseling. The main implication is that we can find comfort in knowing that other people, over thousands of years, have experienced something very similar to whatever is going on in our lives—regardless of what it is. As the writer of Ecclesiastes puts it, “What has been is what will be, what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.” Since God’s Word is complete and addresses all aspects of our lives, we must examine His Word in order to discover real truth regarding our present situations and how God addresses each one. God tells us in Jeremiah 6 to “…stand by…look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; walk in it, and find rest for your souls.”
For many years, counseling has been my desire and what the Lord has called me to do. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Auburn University. My areas of specific interest in counseling are: children and adolescents, women’s issues, marriage and family, depression, spiritual warfare, anxiety, career counseling, abuse, and grief/trauma.
My goal as a counselor is to take part in the ministry of reconciling people to Christ, the “Mighty Counselor.” Through this reconciliation, human hearts and minds are radically transformed to become like Christ’s. Along the way, our deepest pain, hurt, and desires are dealt with as we receive His mighty healing and peace. As a counselor, I am committed to creating an atmosphere that is entirely confidential, open, and non-judgmental. I am also committed to seeking the Holy Spirit’s divine wisdom alongside clients, as my role is not to give advice, but to usher clients into the fullness of the Word of God.
I currently live in Dallas with my husband, Eric. I meet with clients in both our Bedford and Frisco offices.
