My is name Steve Clay, and I serve as the director, as well as a counselor, at Metroplex Counseling. Several years ago, after 10 years in secular vocation, the Lord called me to trust Him with a whole new direction in life. The Lord poured out His grace upon me and and enabled me to trust Him and obey His call, which moved my family to Dallas to prepare for a ministry in biblical counseling. Since then I have been blessed to counsel people through God’s Word for more than 20 years.

The preparation I received included training in biblical counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. While earning that degree, I was employed at Prestonwood Baptist church, where I served in a variety of roles, most notably as Director of Facility Services and Director of Energy Management and Engineering, leading a team of over 30 employees. Through that experience I gained a tremendous appreciation for the particular struggles of those inside and outside the church environment, as well as an understanding of the complexities of the human experience in balancing work and family priorities.

The Lord has given me a passion for His Word and a love for sharing its truth with others. The Bible’s authority and sufficiency is the central principle that guides the counsel I give to others. It alone provides the anchor for the soul, the undeniable and unshakeable truth that our drifting culture so desperately needs.

The goal I have for my clients is that they would find their hope in Christ alone, to learn to walk in His ways by His Spirit in accordance with His grace. I want to represent our Lord King to them in ways that gain their trust, in a relationship in which they know they are understood and loved, and thus can rest in the confidence that the Lord has brought them to this current trial for their good and His glory.

The Lord has gifted me in listening, clarifying, and goal-setting from a biblical perspective. My areas of special emphasis are premarital, marital, and family issues, along with care for adults and adolescents in the areas of indentity confusion, relationships, depression, addictions, abuse, anger, anxiety and stress, as well as all other spiritual issues.

I have been married to the greatest gift to me, Sheila, for over 28 years. Sheila and I have four children, two of whom are grown and living on their own.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a certified biblical counselor. I am  a member of the Association of Biblical Counselors and serve on the advisory board for Realizing True Hope Ministries. Additionally, it has been my joy to teach the Association of Biblical Counselor's training material, Equipped to Counsel.

It would be an honor and great blessing for me to work with you in your particular struggle, being God’s ambassador of grace in the midst of your storm.
